Elvin Feltner

Clarence Elvin Feltner Jr., 83, of New York City and West Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of Hazard, Ky., died Friday, May 31, 2013, at his residence in New York City.

He was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Krypton, Perry County, a son of Clarence E. and Dora Feltner. He had successful career as a film producer, television broadcaster and telecommunications entrepreneur that began soon after graduation from Hazard High School when he became an instructor at the RCA Institute for TV Production in New York City. He later founded Krypton International Corp., named to honor his birthplace, which owned and operated independent television stations in the southeastern United States.

While most of his life was spent in New York and Florida, his heart remained with the "gentle and kind people of eastern Kentucky."

He is survived by brothers Donald R. (Marthalyn Jo) of Richmond, and Arnold Gene (Ruth), of Fredericksburg; sister Mary Rose Stephens (Rupert), of Viera, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.
