Elizabeth Ann Ellis "Betty" Greene, loving mother, 80 years old, of Stafford County passed away peacefully with family at her side at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, on Sunday, July 7, 2013.
Born Feb. 11, 1933, in Norwood, Ohio, she was a daughter of Paul and Mary Nock Hutsell.
Betty was a graduate of St. Mary's High School (later known as Purcell Marian) in Cincinnati. She lived in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky before moving to Sarasota, Fla., in 1982. She moved to Stafford in 2011.
Her strength and work ethic were equaled by very few. She worked in various industries throughout her life, sometimes holding two or three jobs at a time. When she retired in 2001, she transformed her hobby of searching for antiques and collectibles into a successful online business. Her home was always open to family and friends and she delighted in spending time with them.
She is survived by her children, Michael Ellis, Mark Ellis (Lynn), Doug Ellis (Colleen), Dennis Ellis (Susan) and Linda Ward; her grandchildren, Matthew Ellis, Molly Ellis, Arrianne Byrum, Mitchell Ellis, Nathan Ward, Brittany Ward and Becca Ward; brothers Nick Hutsell (Callie) and David Hutsell; sisters Kathy Beresford and Su Holloway; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and friends across the nation.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband George Greene; and sisters Pauline Wheeler, Jean Kieffer, Pat Beatty, Peggy Day and Helen Hutsell.
A celebration of Betty's life will be scheduled at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that tributes be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
