Raymond E. English

Raymond Edward English, 81, of Stafford County passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at his home.

Mr. English retired from Marine Corps Base Quantico as a transmission mechanic. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served during the Korean War. Mr. English was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 290 and a former Mason. He was also a member of Company 2 of the Stafford volunteer fire department and was their lifetime first chief.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Madeline English; children Beverly Hager, Yvonne Payne, Danny Ray English and Keith Allen English; brothers Douglas, Johnny, Eddie and Dennis English; sisters Brenda Craiger and Delores Sander; grandchildren Anita Bourne, Kristy English, Lydia McBee, Michelle Hager, Roy Hager and Amber Payne; and great-grandchildren Tiffany, Stephanie, Deanna, Isaiah, Dennis, Chad, Samuel, Madeline and Avangeline.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Allibelle English; son Allen Ray English; brother Robert C. English; sister Ruth Gallimore; and granddaughter Toni Rae Stanley.

A graveside service will be held at noon Tuesday, July 23, at Quantico National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford.
