James Cuno brings up some interesting points on the value of the arts in a person's education ["Don't dismiss the value of the arts," June 29]. All forms of education can be valuable to a person for a variety of reasons.
Mr. Cuno does not mention that education choices are also influenced by supply and demand factors in the job markets. STEM fields are generally more in demand by employers. People in STEM fields also take courses in arts and humanities to round out their overall education.
Obtaining a satisfying job requires the right combination of education, experience, interpersonal skills, and, yes, some luck.
