Edward T. Hardin

Edward Thomas Hardin, 61, of Stafford County passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mr. Hardin served for three years with the U. S. Army. He was a 1989 graduate of the National College of Education and received his Master of Science degree in 1991 from National Louis University.

Mr. Hardin worked as a federal employee with the U.S. Army for many years and then the U.S. Coast Guard. In 2002, after 28 years of service, he retired as the executive technical editor of Proceedings Magazine. He was a member of Ferry Farm Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Melanie J. Hardin; three children, Renee Michele D'Souza and husband Richard of Baltimore, Carolyn Beatrice Elrod and husband Vernon of Manti, Utah, and Matthew Edward Hardin and fiancee Chrissy of Alexandria; five grandchildren, Jaron, Danica, Kaden, Dalton and Mario; and two brothers, Charles Hardin and wife Martha of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Richard Hardin and wife Linda of Ashburn.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26, at Ferry Farm Baptist Church. Interment will be at 1 p.m. at Quantico National Cemetery.
