Christopher P. Hontgas, 84, of King George County passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at home.
He was born in Mullins, W.Va., on Oct. 28, 1928, to Peter and Mary Hontgas, immigrants from Athens, Greece.
Mr. Hontgas was a World War II Navy veteran. After his discharge, he attended West Virginia Tech and received his degree in electrical engineering. He spent his professional career at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, retiring after 29 years of service.
He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, serving many years as treasurer and lay reader. He was also a Shriner and a member of the Hudson-Morris Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia Hontgas; son Dr. Hayden Hontgas and his wife, Erika; daughter Laura Hontgas of King George; three grandchildren, Micah, Michaela and Shanna; two sisters, Diana Paskaley and Bessie Lively; and four nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
