Kevin B. Bottke

Kevin Brian Bottke, 54, of Louisa County passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at U.Va. Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Born Jan. 25, 1959, in Bucks County, Pa., he was a son of Alfred and Rosemary Bottke of Fredericksburg. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his loving wife, Lora; his children, Kari Lee Reyes and husband Edward of Van Vleck, Texas, and Amanda Bottke and friend Shawn Watkins of Bay City, Texas; his stepchildren, Kristin Cassell of Roanoke and Matthew Cassell of Louisa; his sisters, Barbie Maksimowicz and husband Michael of Colonial Beach and Donna Boutchyard and husband Larry of Wanchese, N.C.; his nieces, Kristin Romesburg and husband Jason of Williamsburg and Megan Fortune and husband Caleb of Manteo, N.C.; nephews Mickey Maksimowicz of Washington, D.C. and Derek Boutchyard and wife Kelly of Manteo; and a great-niece, Anne Katherine Romesburg.

Kevin was employed with Dominion Power for 35 years. He started in 1978 as a mechanic at the Possum Point Power Station in Dumphries, then transferred to North Anna Power Station in 1983. He excelled in various positions, as a mechanic and nuclear instructor before joining management in the maintenance and nuclear site services departments, most recently as a supervisor of nuclear construction in maintenance support. Kevin was very passionate about his work and treasured his Dominion family.

Kevin was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time with friends out on the water in Deltaville, where he and his wife had a second home. In addition to hunting locally, he loved traveling to the Northern Neck to hunt with friends and co-workers. When not outdoors, Kevin loved watching sports, his favorite teams being the Atlanta Braves and Dallas Cowboys.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Spotswood Baptist Church, 4009 Lafayette Blvd., Fredericksburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society, 1445 Rio Road East, Suite 104, Charlottesville, VA 22901.

Preddy Funeral Home of Gordonsville is assisting the family.
