Capt. Anthony R. Carni

Capt. Anthony R. Carni, 46, passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013.

He was born March 30, 1967, in Fairmont, W.Va. He was the son of Donna J. Carni-Nuzum and John L. Carni. Anthony had lived in Spotsylvania County for the past 25 years.

He is survived by his mother, and brother John Andrew Carni. He had been married to Tammy Cassel-Carni. He was preceded in death by his father, John L. Carni, and both sets of grandparents.

Anthony was a graduate of Trinity University with a bachelor's degree in electronic technology engineering. He was on active duty with the Army National Guard of Virginia, Portsmouth, for the past 20 years. He graduated from officer candidate school and achieved the rank of captain. Anthony was employed by American Solutions and was a past employee of EOIR Technologies.

He attended River of Life Church in Thornburg, where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 9.

In lieu of flowers, Anthony requested donations to Wounded Warriors, Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66672; no-kill animal shelters of Spotsylvania; or Adrati K9 Rescue, Box 17173, Richmond, VA 23226.
