Several recent letters to the editor have supported the candidacy of Ken Cuccinelli, so it seems time for
In his attempts to force Virginia--and beyond--to reflect his worldview, Cuccinelli has fought legal battles on many fronts against women, intruding on their constitutional rights and seriously limiting their access to preventative health care. He has sued academic scientists researching climate change, supported laws making it a felony for even straight married couples to engage in sodomy or oral sex, and is against most (more likely all) forms of birth control. He wants concealed weapons in bars, churches, airports, and public universities. Cuccinelli might be seen as merely laughable if it weren't for his political tactics, which have been compared to McCarthyism and likened to those practiced in totalitarian states.
Even those who share his Tea Party principles should think twice about Cuccinelli's lack of governing experience, or the way he has handled questions about influence peddling and his own connections to Star Scientific, the company involved in current allegations against Gov. McDonnell.
A vote cast for Terry McAuliffe, our Democratic candidate for governor, will bring reasonable, intelligent leadership back to Virginia and help restore the respect our state knew prior to the McDonnell-Cuccinelli debacle.
