David E. Delew

David E. Delew, 63, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, after a 10-year battle with Parkinson's disease.

Dave was born April 18, 1950, in Duxbury, Mass., a son of the late Elmer and Nadine Delew. Dave was preceded in death by a brother, Robert C. Delew.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda; brother Bruce Delew (Louise); sister Jill Wiseman; seven children, Alison Young, Christopher Delew (Lindsey), Melissa Marx (Dan), Justin Delew (Joelle), Meghan DeHaas (Ryan), Evan Delew and Kailey Delew; and 13 grandchildren.

Dave attended Thayer Academy in Braintree, Mass., and later graduated from Duxbury High School. He began his career as a surveyor in Massachusetts. In 1976, he relocated his family to Spotsylvania County, where he worked for Detwiler & Associates. In 1990, Dave started his surveying business, C&D Consultants, which he operated until his death. Dave was an avid sports fan, loyal to the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1710 Bragg Road, Fredericksburg. The family will receive guests after the service in the church hall. Interment will be held in the spring in Massachusetts.
