Terence D. Harrigan

;">"Tis himself," one angel exclaimed. "Aye, we've been waiting for you to pass over. We've enjoyed all the silly puns you've told and your wonderful laugh. Surely you've had enough time to come up with some new puns and jokes. Get settled now, Mr. Terence; we're anxious for you to get started."

Terence David "Terry" Harrigan, 70, of Stafford County died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, surrounded by loving family.

He was born in 1943 in Charleston, W.Va., to David and Eloise Harrigan. The family moved to Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Terry graduated from Knoxville Catholic High School and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration at the University of Tennessee. After fulfilling his military service, he returned to the university, where he graduated with a law degree in 1972. He served as an appeals attorney for the Veterans Administration for the next 30 years.

Bored with retirement, he took a job as a title searcher for H. Aubrey Hawkins Associates and later for Bowman Consulting Group. While he enjoyed working for veterans, he said that the best job he ever had was coaching for and being involved with the Stafford Recreational Soccer League.

Terry is survived by his wife, Katy; his three children, CoryAnne (Patricia Calkins), Sean (Natalie), and Kelly Korzen (Joseph); his sisters, Joan Harrigan of Knoxville and Gail Chambers of Memphis; four grandchildren; three nieces; and a nephew.

A reception in honor of his life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at 7 Pebble Beach Drive, Stafford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank or the Drew Knutson Memorial Fund and Scholarship, c/o Stafford Soccer.
