Michael W. Schulte

Dr. Michael W. Schulte, D.D.S., 60, of Fairfax Station, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013.

He was born May 5, 1953, in Duluth, Minn., to Richard L. and Honor A. Schulte.

He graduated from JEB Stuart High School, Falls Church, where he excelled in wrestling. He went on to receive his bachelor's degree from George Mason University and his D.D.S. from The Medical College of Virginia. Michael practiced dentistry in Stafford for more than 30 years.

Michael was well known and will be remembered in the community for being tenderhearted and caring. He provided extensive pro bono dental care to the less fortunate in the community, often after they had been turned away from other practices. He spent a lot of his time and energy supplying love and dental care to orphans in Nicaragua as well as building and maintaining an orphanage and school. His other passions included flying his plane and showering selfless love and support on his family and friends. Michael had an incredible zest for life and will be truly missed by all.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Rita; daughter Ashley and husband Dr. Alex Wurm; son Michael and wife Ida Osman; his cherished grandchildren, Taylor Isabella Wurm, Madison Rose Wurm, Scarlett Grace Wurm and Michael Christian Schulte II; sisters Honor E. Schulte-Usui, Heather M. Sabin, Jennifer S. Richards, Victoria J. Lester; brothers Mark S. Schulte and Grant S. Schulte; sister-in-law Evette Schulte; 17 nieces and nephews; and 14 great-nieces and -nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Richard L. Schulte; father and mother-in-law Albert (Chief) Alessandrelli and Rose Alessandrelli; brother Richard A. Schulte; and nephew Nathan Schulte.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.

Burial will immediately follow in National Memorial Park.
