Pamela Jane Roberts, 60, of Stafford County unexpectedly passed away in her sleep on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at her home.
Pam was born in Columbus, Ohio, to a military family and traveled throughout the world. She obtained a master's degree from the University of New Mexico and then worked 33 years in civil service as an operations analyst, first for the Army and then retiring from the Marine Corps at Quantico.
Pam and Kip were childless, but Pam played the role of a coddling and loving mother to the seven dogs she raised over the past 25 years. Pam was an active member of the Potomac Valley Shetland Sheepdog Club and participated in herding events with three different shelties, earning titles on each. She was especially proud of Christopher, who was awarded titles well into his senior years.
Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Kip Johnson; mother Viola Roberts; sister Jeanette Yarrington (Michael); and nephews Tristan and Preston. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles E. Roberts.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at Quantico National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Pam would appreciate donations be made to the Northern Virginia Sheltie Rescue at nvsr.org; to the Oldies But Goodies Cocker Rescue at cockerspanielrescue.com; or to your local SPCA.
