Lucy Morgan Cox, 85, of Stafford County passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Hughes Home.
Lucy was born in Greenville, Tenn., to General and Ora Morgan, the oldest of five brothers and four sisters. She moved to Fredericksburg when she was 16. She later began working at the FMC Plant, where she met her husband, the late Robert Lee Cox Sr. During their 62 years of married life, she raised four children. Lucy was a wife and, foremost, a mother. Her real joys in life were raising their children, gardening, tending to the animals and babysitting her five grandchildren.
Lucy was a devout Christian, attending Bethel Baptist Church. She was also a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Stafford County.
Survivors include three children, Linda Amos and her husband, Chuck, of Fredericksburg, Robert L. Cox Jr. of Stafford and Sue Hovey and her husband, Ed, of Spotsylvania County; son-in-law Gordon Gould of St. Michaels, Md.; six grandchildren, Tracey, George, Robert, Christina, Andrew and Matthew; eight great-grandchildren; sister Trella Bettis; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter Peggy Gould and daughter-in-law Patricia Cox.
