Wilber F. Segar

Wilber F. Segar, 90, of Stafford County died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Segar was a native of Stafford County and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from the federal government as a fireman at Marine Corps Base Quantico. Mr. Segar was the founder of Willow Landing Marina on Aquia Creek. He was also a founding and life member of Stafford Volunteer Fire Department Company 2 and the Stafford Rescue Squad. He was a member of American Legion Post 290 and Frank P. Moncure Masonic Lodge 279.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lilly R. Segar; daughter Dorothy M. Segar; sister Ruth Able; brother Claude Dent Jr.; and companion Dorothy Thomas.

Survivors include daughter Diana S. Huppmann; six grandchildren, Jacqueline Cook (Dennis), Crystal Hester (Tom), Sheryl Brooks, Buck Segar (Wendi), C.J. Huppmann (Melanie) and Sally Howard (Chris); nine great-grandchildren, Brandon, Chelsea, Madison, Hailie, Reagan, Katie, Lilly, Makayla and Jace; and two sisters, Sue Stanley and Annabelle Daymude; and extended family in Deltaville.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford, with a Masonic memorial service at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral will be held at noon Thursday, Dec. 5, at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Aquia Episcopal Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stafford Volunteer Fire Department Company 2; or Frank P. Moncure Masonic Lodge 279.
