William T. Jones

William Thomas Jones Sr., 94, of Woodford entered eternal rest on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Caroline County on March 26, 1919, to the late Robert and Nancy Jones.

Mr. Jones was a faithful member of Zion Grove Baptist Church in Caroline. He was a World War II veteran. During his service he was awarded numerous decorations and citations, including American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with a bronze service star, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal.

He retired from the FMC Plant in Fredericksburg.

He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Deaconess Ruth Jones.

Mr. Jones leaves cherished memories to his children, daughter Jenita Lewis of Spotsylvania County; sons Leonard Armstead (Lottie), and William Thomas Jones Jr.; brothers Cecil Jones (Annie) of Spotsylvania and Morris Jones of Washington, D.C.; sisters Frances Morgan and Catherine Daniel, both of Spotsylvania; 28 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Zion Grove Baptist Church, 9450 Fredericksburg Turnpike, Bowling Green, VA, 22427. A celebration of life service will be held at noon Thursday, Dec. 12, at the church.
