This is in regard to David Nelson's letter that the Senate's "nuclear option" is long overdue ["'Nuclear option'? Dems did the right thing," Dec. 2].
The main reason for requiring 60 votes to bring votes before the Senate is to mitigate the "tyranny" of the majority by requiring senators of both sides to reach an agreement, with the thought being that a compromise solution is the better one.
I wonder if Mr. Nelson will still be keen on the nuclear option when Republicans retake the White House, House of Representatives and Senate and use the nuclear option to confirm conservative judges and political appointees. For some reason,
