Joe A. Gale

Retired USMC Maj. Joe Anton Gale, 79, of Stafford County passed away Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at Falls Run Nursing and Rehab.

Maj. Gale had retired from the United States Marine Corps, having served in Vietnam and Korea, as well as Rota, Spain, Okinawa, and several stateside bases. After retirement, he worked in civil service at Twentynine Palms and Quantico. He was a member of the Marine Corps League and the Marine Corps Cryptologic Association.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Leinis Gale; children Kimberly Gale, Christopher Gale and Joseph Gale (Dawn); sister Mary Riley; grandchildren Ashlee Schneider (Christopher) and Christopher, Brittany, Carolyn, Dominic, Teoman and Dakota Gale and George, Rachael and Douglas Paresa (Andrea); great-grandchildren Evie Schneider and Autumn, Kerysten and Alexander Paresa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lillian Gale; granddaughter Marissa Gale; and brother-in-law John Riley.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at Quantico National Cemetery.
