Karen I. Mueller

Karen Irene Mueller, 72, of Locust Grove passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at her residence.

Born on March 30, 1941, in Syracuse, N.Y., Karen moved to the Washington, D.C., metro area in 1970. She lived in Clinton, Md., for about 32 years and moved to Fredericksburg in 2004.

Karen held several jobs, including working on the 1990 Census for the Census Bureau and working as a training assistant for the Navy Research Lab. She retired as a federal employee in 2000.

Karen enjoyed traveling. In addition to annual trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, she enjoyed numerous cruises, including one that visited Alaska, Japan, Russia and South Korea.

Karen is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gerald J. Mueller; one son, Scott Mueller of Lexington Park, Md.; one daughter, Pamela Mueller of Waldorf, Md.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Diane Besecker of Syracuse, N.Y.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Marie Matthews Koenig.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fredericksburg. Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper.
