Paul J. Sharp

Paul Julian Sharp, 85, passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, in Fredericksburg.

Mr. Sharp spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy as an air traffic controller and 20 years as a Virginia state policeman on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Elaine Sharp; his parents, Floyd Washington and Eddie Mae Sharp; a brother; five sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Jean Treynor Sharp.

He is survived by his sons, Steve Sharp and wife Carolyn, Jeffrey Sharp and wife Laura and David Sharp; 13 grandchildren, Tiffany, Beth, Matthew, Tony, David, Kate, Andrew, Jake, Noah, Claire, Kenny, Holly and Joseph; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Chase, Kira and Jude.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife, Jan, and was a loyal Atlanta Braves fan. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
