Tracey I. Clarke

Tracey Irene Clarke, 45, of Fredericksburg went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, after a courageous 29-month battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Born July 25, 1968, in Georgia, and formerly of Virginia Beach, Tracey was an oil painter known for her body of work, The New Mythology, a redemption-themed surreal series featuring animals in an epic battle of good against evil. She was educated at Atlanta College of Art and worked as a veterinary technician prior to becoming a full-time professional artist. She was a member of the Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts and New City Fellowship Church. After her diagnosis of brain cancer, Tracey reached out to others enduring brain cancer through her blog, Brain Works, a blog at CaringBridge.

Tracey is survived by her husband, Craig Clarke; her mother, Bobbie Frizzell and her husband, Howard, both of Norfolk; her father, Kenneth Paul and his wife, Sue, both of Florida; three sisters, Cynthia Tate, Sarah Caviness and Jacqui Paul; brother Justin Paul; and nieces and nephews.

A worship service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at New City Fellowship, 200 Prince Edward St. in Fredericksburg, followed by a fellowship meal at the church. Private interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tracey Clarke Memorial Fund
