Jeanne E. Green

Jeanne Elizabeth Kenney Green, 91, departed this Earth on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, in Fredericksburg.

Born April 23, 1922, in the Fairview section of Camden County, N.J., she was the daughter of Vernus McLaughlin Kenney and Leslie H. Kenney. She grew up in and around the area of Collingswood, N.J., and graduated from Camden High School in 1940. After graduation, she attended the New Jersey State Teachers College in Glassboro, N.J., (now Rowan University) where she received a bachelor's degree in education in 1944. She taught elementary education at the old Westmont School No. 1 in Haddon Township for several years.

Jeanne leaves behind her husband of 68 years, George H. Green; her sister, Norma A. Kenney Troendle, widow of Herbert, of Atco, N.J.; her two children and their extended families, Jeffrey D. Green and his wife, Irene, of Felton, Del., and Andrea L. Green McDanald and her husband, James, of Fredericksburg; eight grandchildren, Bryan J. Green and wife Christina, Jason C. Green, Douglas H. Green and wife Sarah, Scott H. Green, Jennifer L. McDanald Taylor and fiance Brian McColgan, Julie A. McDanald Rogers and husband Edward, James B. McDanald and Jenna, Jessica L. McDanald Chinchilla and husband Ricardo; 11 great-grandchildren, Jordan Green, Nicholas Green, Jonathan Green, Allison Green, Alaina Taylor, Alexia Taylor, Lilliana Heflin, Mason Rogers, Chloe McDanald, Andrea Chinchilla and Ricardo Chinchilla Jr.; nephew Richard Troendle and wife Sherie of Atco; grandnephews Christian and Adam Troendle, grandnieces Amy Troendle, and Kelly Troendle (the daughter of her late nephew Leslie Troendle), and all of their children, and the children of her late brother-in-law, Robert Green, and his marriage to the late Judith Smith Hall, nieces Barbara Hall Flack and her husband, Douglas, and Judith Hall, and nephew Edward Hall and his wife, Elisabeth von Trapp.

She married George H. Green, also of Collingswood, on Jan. 5, 1946, and in 1950, they relocated to the Washington, D.C., area. Jeanne and George were active members of Lanham Methodist Church and Trinity Moravian Church, where they made many lifelong friends through their activities in the church choirs and other church-related functions. They moved to the Fredericksburg area in 1990 and became active members of Tabernacle United Methodist Church on Old Plank Road.
