Doris K. Oliff

Doris K. "Dee" Oliff passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at her residence in Fredericksburg.

Dee was born Jan. 4, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late George and Florence Kampf. Being an only child and grandchild, Dee was shown a lot of love, support and attention from her family. After she graduated high school, she went on to receive her associate degree in nursing.

Soon after her nurse's training her family moved to Virginia. Dee and her late husband, Marvin A. Oliff, owned and operated the Cotillion Motel in Atlanta, Ga., and Browns Motel in Stafford County for many years. After ending the motel business she returned to nursing at Mary Washington Hospital as an RN and retired in 1993.

She was a member of the Eastern Star fraternity and was a devout member of the Salvation Army Church.

Dee was very outgoing, full of life and fun to be around. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Dee will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by seven children, Helena Melear, Marvin A. Oliff Jr., JoAnn Grubbs (John), James R. Oliff, Jay Loveless (Mary Beth), David Loveless and Lynne Martineau; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Salvation Army Church in Fredericksburg, with a reception to follow.
