Linda M. Henson

Linda Meacham Henson, 66, of Fredericksburg passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, after a 16-month battle with esophageal cancer.

Linda was the daughter of Buford and Connie Meacham of LaGrange, Ga. She graduated Wakefield High School and attended David Lipscomb University in Nashville.

She was a loving mother of four and devoted grandmother to 13 who called her Mumzie. She was a Bible class teacher at the Springfield and Fairfax Churches of Christ. She was also an active member of the Spotsylvania Church of Christ and Trinity Bible Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was active in the Lee's Hill neighborhood.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Fred Lee Henson.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Lee Henson and his wife, Edie, of Fredericksburg, David Gregory Henson and his wife, Jennifer, of Chantilly and Christopher Aaron Henson of Charlottesville; and her daughter, Heather Lynn Shephard and her husband, Darrin, of Bealeton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Helen Carole Henson, Lee Rolston Henson, Jayden Vaught Henson, Kendall Beatrice Henson, Teagan Gregory Henson, Lillian Grace Shephard, Natalie Erin Henson, Virginia Abigail Henson, Kian Isaiah Henson, Isaac Daniel Shephard, Lydia Noel Henson, Naomi Gayle Shephard and Margaret Jael Shephard. She is also survived by her mother, Connie Meacham; and brother Jim Meacham and his wife, Patricia.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Trinity Bible Church, 6331 Campus Drive in Fredericksburg. The family will receive guests after the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Mary Washington Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway Fredericksburg, VA 22407, who provided care for Fred and Linda in their final days.
