Anthony W. Alizio

Anthony W. Alizio, 85, of Fredericksburg passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Anthony served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, the Korean War and in China. He retired in 1965 with more than 20 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post 162.

Anthony is survived by his wife of 53 years, Tina; two daughters, Catherine Hobgood and husband Ricky of Georgia and Ann Alizio and husband Brian Nestor of Remington; and two grandchildren, Daniel Hobgood and Rachel Hobgood, both of Georgia.

Anthony was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Joseph Alizio, with whom he will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial is scheduled to take place in Arlington National Cemetery at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Anthony's name may be made to the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program, Veterans Services Foundation, 900 East Main St., 6th Floor, West Wing, Richmond, VA 23219.
