Robert L. Spradlin

Robert Lee "Kuz" Spradlin, 79, of Fredericksburg passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mr. Spradlin was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Berea Baptist Church. He had worked as an electrician and mechanical inspector for the city of Fredericksburg. Kuz enjoyed gardening, tinkering in his garage and playing lead guitar for the gospel group "Berea's Own" at local nursing homes, assisted living facilities and at his church.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Martha Marie Spradlin; son Tommy Spradlin (Tracy) of Fredericksburg; daughter Sandy Jett (Jeff) of White Oak; brothers Hugh Spradlin (Sue) of Jacksboro, Tenn., and Henry Spradlin of Greenville, Tenn.; sister Anna Mae Spradlin of LaFollette, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Robert Jett, Taylor Jett, Kerri Spradlin, Kristin Brinklow and Ashley Brinklow; and one great-grandchild, Savannah Brinklow.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Waco Spradlin; and six brothers, Whit and George of Fredericksburg and Harley, Jim, Luther and Les of Tennessee.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A service will be held at noon Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
