Michael R. Bloczynski

Michael Raymond Bloczyn-ski, 58, of Locust Grove passed away on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, after losing his courageous battle with cancer.

Born on Nov. 22, 1955, in Pamona, Calif., to Shirley and Robert Bloczynski, Michael graduated from Lincoln East High, Lincoln, Neb. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years, stationed on the USS Hunly in Guam and USS John Adams in Charleston, S.C.

He married Angel A. Schrum on Aug. 8, 1981. From 1984 to the present, he continued to serve his county by working as a government contractor. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing pool and spending time with his family.

Michael is survived by his wife, Angel Bloczynski; daughter Danielle Mortensen and husband, Eric; son Michael Bloczynski Jr.; grandson Conner Mortensen; granddaughter Jillian Mortensen; sisters Michelle Bloczynski and Mary Lee and husband Eric; brother Steven R. Bloczynski; nieces Elizabeth Lee and Leigh Christenberry; and nephews Richard Donaldson, Steven M. Bloczynski and Brandon Bloczynski.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Bloczynski; father Robert Bloczynski; and sister Susan Merrill.

A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove, followed by a memorial service at 8 p.m., with the Rev. Jeffrey Smith officiating.
