Rose Hicks Farmer

Rose Hicks Farmer, 86, of Bowling Green died Monday Feb. 10, 2014, in Bowling Green Health and Rehab Center.

Born in Delos, which is a part of Fort A.P. Hill, she was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Sparta. Rose had retired from Fort A.P. Hill and was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Caroline Gray's Chapter and was past Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 174 in Bowling Green.

Survivors include her husband, James W. Farmer Sr.; her son James W. Farmer Jr. (Donna); her sister Ann Tate; four grandchildren, Ali Farmer Metzger, Jamie Farmer Burton, Kenneth Stewart and Tyler Page Newton Jr.; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Alan Grey Farmer and her siblings Ralph A. Hicks, Idelle Hicks Taylor, John Donald Hicks and her twin, Mildred Lee Weagley.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at the funeral home, with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salem Baptist Church.
