Margaret A. Monaghan

Margaret Anne Monaghan, the heart of her family, went to heaven on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Triangle. Interment will be at noon Monday, March 3, at Quantico National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or the Autism Society.

Margaret was born on Aug. 26, 1933, in Jersey City, N.J., to Catherine and John Ensor. She was the youngest of four children. She attended St. Aloysius elementary and high schools and was married in that same church to John Monaghan. Their 59-year journey together took them from New Jersey to Texas and finally to Virginia. Margaret's greatest legacy is her three children, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her kind and gentle spirit lives on in the memories of her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, John J. Monaghan; children Lisa Monaghan, Maureen and Gary Crowe and Shawn and Noelle Monaghan; grandchildren Jenny and Chris Titus, Laura Smith, Jonathan and Katie Smith, Jordin and fiancee Phillip Thomas, Phillip, Jack, Shawn, Katie, Jacob, Billy, Sam and Ella; and great-grandchildren Gabriel, Gavin and Gwendolyn.
