Retha W. Gambaro

Retha W. Gambaro, sculptor, was born Dec. 9, 1917, in Indian Territory, Okla., to William Benson Walden and Zella Athleen (McTigrit) Walden. Retha was reunited with her beloved mother and father, grandson Christopher, and great-granddaughter Jessica on Sept. 9, 2013.

Retha leaves a living legacy, her husband of 68 years, Stephen A. Gambaro of Stafford County; daughters Delia A. Zemke of Morgan Hill, Calif., and Anna L. Gambaro-Butler of Stafford; a son, Mario W. Gambaro (Nancy) of Longview, Wash.; a sister, Roberta Johnson of Winton, Calif., 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and close friends.

Retha, raised in Phoenix, called Stafford County her home since 1988, after having lived in Washington, D.C., for many years.

Retha leaves behind enduring blessings of family, art and invention.
