Marilyn Tyler Lindsey Galloway, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, Ga.

Born in Stafford County, she had been a resident of Cataula, Ga., since 2003. Prior to moving to Georgia, she lived for many years in Tinton Falls and Neptune, N.J.

She joined Mount Hope Baptist Church in Brooke at an early age and attended services at military chapels until her illness.

Marilyn was a mathematics and computer science teacher for many years before retiring in 2001 from the Hazlet Township school system in Monmouth, N.J. She was a graduate of Hampton (Institute) University, with a bachelor's degree in mathematics, and Monmouth University, with a master's degree in computer science. She was an active and dedicated lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Lt. Col. Charles R. Lindsey and Lt. Col. Jesse M. Galloway; her father, Frank Allen Tyler; and two brothers, Percy Tyler and James F. Tyler.

She is survived by her sons, Charles Lindsey (Tammie) and Tyrone Lindsey (Shelley); daughter Karen Lindsey Carter (Darryl); five grandchildren, Bryson, Brooke, Bridget and Brandon Lindsey and Kaitlyn Carter; her mother, Beatrice Camp Tyler of Stafford; two sisters, Theresa Tyler Holt (Timothy) and Delores Tyler Taylor (Garnett); a niece, Wanda Tyler; nephews Stephen Holt, Kevin Holt and Christopher Taylor; a special cousin, Barbara Hamilton; and a host of loving relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 395 Mount Olive Road, Stafford, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Tyler Family cemetery in Stafford.
