Susan Brassell

Susan Louise Brown Brassell, 65, of Stafford County passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014. Susan has gone to be with her sweet Jesus and her beloved husband of 40 years, Joseph Thomas Brassell.

A life celebration will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at Stafford Baptist Church, led by Senior Pastor Naethan Hendrix.

She is survived by her sister, Teresa Reeves; two sons, Jordan and Daniel Brassell; two daughters, Tina Hertzog and Christina Enfield; and son-in-law Donnie Enfield. Sue was also blessed to have three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.

Sue was employed by Davis Industries in the early 1970s, and with area towing companies beginning in 1990. In 1995, she joined the staff of VATRO, Virginia Association of Towing & Recovery Operators. She received numerous awards over the years from the towing industry, and one of her favorites was "Tow Woman of the Year" presented to her by TRAA. She was very active in TRAA (National Towing & Recovery Association of America Inc.) and had a very special place in her heart for all of her "TOW GUYS." This past October she received the most prestigious VATRO Henry Heath award, which is given to the most outstanding tower in the state of Virginia. She is the only "non-tower" ever to receive this award.

She had also been the financial secretary at Stafford Baptist Church for the past eight years. Ms. Sue was also well-known for being an amazing cook who made delicious meals for her church and families in need of comfort food. She was famous for her secret, homemade spaghetti sauce. Her delicious food and friendship will be missed by many. She was actively involved in many aspects of her beloved church and had a special place in her heart for the annual SBCV Camp Frame, children and youth camps held every summer in Hedgesville, W.Va.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to SBCV Camp Frame by contacting Stafford Baptist Church, 2202 Jefferson Davis Highway, Stafford, VA 22554, 540/659-7517 or office@staffordbaptist church.org.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Covenant Funeral Home and Mr. Mullins for all of their kind assistance during this most difficult time.
