Thomas V. Budd

Thomas Vinson Budd, 87, of Fredericksburg passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, at Ashland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ashland.

He was born July 16, 1926, in Delaplane, a son of the late Herbert Vinson Budd and Emma Adams Leach Budd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Cora Budd.

Tom served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. He worked as an inventory clerk from 1951 to 1966 and from 1971 to 1988 with Southern States. From 1966 until 1971, he worked at Culpeper Farmer's Cooperative. After retiring, he went back to work with Southern States in 1995, working for several more years. He was also an employee of the Nokesville Livestock Auction Company from 1961 until it closed.

He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Budd; two daughters, Cora Jean Budd and Shelley Marlyne Budd, both of Nokesville; one son, Gary Thomas Budd of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; stepchildren Clinton Mark Campbell, Nancy Campbell, Gary Clark Campbell and Barron B. Campbell, all of Spotsylvania County; sister Ann Woodward of Warrenton; brother Morris Budd of Sioux City, Iowa; one grandchild, Garrett Budd; nine stepgrandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 8, from 2:30 p.m. until the funeral begins at 3:30 p.m. at Moser Funeral Home, 233 Broadview Ave., Warrenton, VA 20186. Interment will be private.
