Marjorie Carlmark

Marjorie "Marge" Carlmark, 93, of Orange County went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2014.

Previously from Burbank and Vista, Calif., she and her late husband, Ellsworth "Eddie" Carlmark, moved to Fredericksburg 13 years ago.

She was born and grew up in Southern California and received a bachelor's degree from Chapman College (now Chapman University). Later she received a Master of Education degree from Cal State University, Northridge. After marrying, she supported the World War II effort by working at Lockheed Aircraft. After the war, she began a successful career as a school teacher, educator and central office administrator and retired as an elementary school principle.

A prominent role in her life was serving the Lord and her church. She held a variety of church leadership and service positions over the years.

She thoroughly enjoyed hosting dinner parties for family and friends. Over the years, she and her husband visited all of the United States and 50 foreign countries. Music also was a very important part of Marge's life as well. She played the violin as a youth and well into her adult years.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Eddie Carlmark, and her brother Fred. She is survived by her children, Gary Carlmark (Susan) of Locust Grove and Gail Carlmark of Yuma, Ariz.; her grandchildren, Julie Ann, Jonelle (David), Teresa (Chad) and Matthew (Tracy); and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Keith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. April 12, at Dogwood Village of Orange County. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Dogwood Village Foundation (Piano Fund), 120 Dogwood Lane, Orange, VA 22960.
