Vivian E. Gray

Vivian Elaine Gray, 83, of Fredericksburg, formerly of Falls Church and Spring Hill, Fla., peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 8, 2014, with her three loving daughters by her side.

Mrs. Gray was born Dec. 8, 1930, in Washington, D.C., to the late John and Anne Goodman Storey. She was the widow of Mark D. Carll and Gerald C. "Jerry" Gray.

Mrs. Gray was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, Washington, D.C., and Strayer Business College. Mr. and Mrs. Gray owned and operated Jerry's Appliance and Service Co. for more than 40 years in Falls Church, before retiring together to Spring Hill, Fla., where they enjoyed a life of leisure.

Mrs. Gray had been a charter member of the Alpha Nu Sigma Beta sorority since 1948, performing charity work for many years. She was a member of St. Phillips Catholic Church in Falls Church prior to moving to Florida. She enjoyed snow skiing, bowling, traveling, reading, dancing and, most of all, spending time with her large loving family and many dear and close friends.

Survivors include her six children, Mark D. Carll Jr. (Bettsy), Tim Carll, Vicki Carll, Linda Haley (Jay), Paul Carll and Gerrie C. Gray; 19 grandchildren: and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A Mass of celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Inurnment for Mr. and Mrs. Gray will be held at a later date at Quantico National Cemetery.

The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at Chancellor's Village, caregiver Linda Tolbert, Mary Washington Hospice and nurse Carol Hammond for the excellent care, compassion and love they all gave to our mother and our family.
