Barbara Arcuni

Barbara Anita Mattaliano "Mrs. A" Arcuni, 90, of Triangle passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2014.

She was the beloved wife of 44 years of the late Oreste K. Arcuni; loving mother of Joseph G. Arcuni (Marianne), Janet Wangler (Dana) and Jean M. Arcuni (Mark Steven); cherished grandmother of Ben Arcuni, Annie Berry, Emma Berry, Brendan Wangler and Rachel Wangler; dear sister of Marie Marenghi (late Ambrose), Rita Aloupis (George) and Joseph Mattaliano (Candy).

Barbara was predeceased by siblings Eleanor Melanson (Gordon), Edie Burditt (Carl), and Anna Moore (George). She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a huge extended circle of friends who will miss her dearly.

A World War II Marine and a member of the Navy in Korea, Mrs. A. worked for the federal government for many years and most recently at The Basic School. She reluctantly retired after 54 years of federal service. She had been a devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Triangle since 1963. Mrs. A loved bingo, yard sales, Scrabble, good conversation and a nice glass of chablis.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, VA 22193.

The family invites any friends who wish to share a funny or memorable story to do so at 7 p.m. that evening before prayers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 24, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 18825 Fullerton Heights Road, Triangle. Interment with military honors will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, stfrncis.org; or to the Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org.
