Robert 'Bert' Musick

Robert Ryland "Bert" Musick, 37, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, following a brief illness.

He was an attorney practicing at Capitol One as director, assistant general counsel. Bert clerked for the Hon. Judge Frederick Rockwell immediately after law school and then spent 2 years as a special agent with the Secret Service in New York City before joining the firm of Thompson McMullen in Richmond in 2007.

A graduate of St. Christopher's School and University of Virginia, Bert also held a J.D. and an MBA from University of Richmond. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying soccer, tennis and camping with his family and friends.

Bert leaves to carry forward his legacy his wife, Katherine Rose Musick, and two adoring children, Ann Virginia and Robert Ryland Musick Jr. He is also survived by his father, Robert L. Musick Jr. and wife Beth; his mother, Robbie S. Williams and her husband, G. Chandler Williams; a sister, Elizabeth B. Musick of Reston; and grandmother Virginia B. Musick of Tallahassee, Fla. Also in his close family are Katie's brothers, Thomas Rose and Michael Rose (Crystal) of Richmond; his stepbrothers, Perry Williams (Tina) of McLean, Lewis Williams (Jocelyn) of Annapolis; stepsister Elizabeth Novak (Dave) of Vienna; and many nieces and nephews who also will miss Bert's compassionate attention and playful spirit.

The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond. A service celebrating Bert's life will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at River Road Church, Baptist, 8000 River Road, Richmond, VA 23229. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Comfort Zone Camp, 7201 Glen Forest Drive, Suite 301, Richmond, VA 23226.
