Raising fines won't prevent accidents

Raising fines won't prevent accidents

In response to the letter "Raise fines on I-95" [March 30], I wonder how raising the fines will prevent accidents on Interstate 95. Webster's Dictionary defines "accident" as "1. an undesirable or unfortunate happening that occurs unintentionally and usually results in harm, injury, damage, or loss; mishap."

According to that letter, raising the fines will reduce accidents? Now you want to put flashing message boards? I would call this another unneeded distraction on I-95.

I'm sure Stafford County would like to have a reputation as a great place to live and dine. Not "come here and we will ticket you."
