Roy V. Lof

Roy Vincent Lof of Springfield died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the age of 93.

He was the beloved widower of Bernadette Lof; caring father of twins Paul Damien Lof (Marsha) and Teresa Lof Groupe (Skip) and Kendra Lynne Pachter; devoted grandfather to Kurtis Alen Marsh, Rhea Michelle Cook (Vince), William Richard Szabo (Andrea), John Stuart Groupe V (Catherine) and Kendra Jeanne Hann (Ben); 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and brother to Neal Lof of San Antonio. He was predeceased by sister Alice Caron.

Roy was born July 26, 1920, to the late Gust and Esther Lof. After growing up on a farm in Oldham, S.D., he received his bachelor's degree from Augustana College and his master's degree from Washington University.

Roy served in the Army Air Force from 1944 to 1946, followed by three years in the reserves. He worked for the Defense Communications Agency until his retirement. Roy spent most of his retirement years actively involved in Bethel United Church of Christ in Arlington, singing in the choir, serving on various boards and being a deacon, elder and then trustee.

Interment with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date and will be private.
