Jenny Rexrode

Jenny Anna Perks Rexrode, 59, a longtime resident of the Fredericksburg area and originally from Triangle, died Thursday, April 3, 2014.

Jenny will be remembered for her love of animals, her hardworking and no-nonsense approach to life and her ability to motivate people to achieve their personal goals. She was an avid runner and won many awards in her age division. She always strived to beat her personal best in everything she did. She loved being outdoors, exercising, gardening, hikes through the woods, walking on the beach, playing (winning) games and just spending time with her animals.

Jenny worked at local horse farms and was a dedicated "horse show mom" to her daughter for many years. For the last several years she worked at Mary Washington Home Health and took great pride in helping patients and co-workers. She genuinely enjoyed learning about people she met. During her own hospital stay, she enjoyed recounting each nurse's and aide's story.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Perks Sr. and Virginia Davidson Perks of Triangle. She is survived by her daughter, Reena Rexrode of Los Angeles; her former husband, Miller "Mickey" Rexrode of Spotsylvania County; her sisters, Lisa Phoenix of Fredericksburg and Dori Nairn of Callao; her brother, Kenneth "Scotty" Perks of Billings, Mont.; her companion, Jimmy Musante of Stafford County; many beloved nieces and nephews; and her wonderful pets.

Jenny's life will be celebrated with close family and friends on Saturday, April 12. Anyone wishing to attend should email Lisa Phoenix at
Email: LPPhoenix@aol.com for details.

In lieu of flowers, Jenny would ask that you do something for yourself, take a walk in nature, tell a good joke and laugh or eat a piece of cheesecake. Donations to a local animal shelter would also honor her memory.
