Edward N. Davis

Edward Nelson Davis transitioned from labor to reward on Monday, April 14, 2014, at his home in Spotsylvania County after a very brief illness. His wife, Rita, and grandson Diante Brown were at his side.

"Ed," as he was called, grew up and graduated from high school in Pittsburgh. He received a football scholarship and graduated from Delaware State University with a degree in chemistry. He moved to Washington, D.C., after graduation and spent more than 30 years with the government of the District of Columbia as an IT administrator before he retired. He spent an additional 12 years as a contractor for Homeland Security, then decided to come home and work in his yard, as he loved to do.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Rita A Pendleton of Spotsylvania; his son, Mike Davis of Clinton, Md.; stepson attorney Damon L. Pendleton (attorney Christina) of Richmond; six grandchildren; two sisters, Magnolia Hill of Fort Wash-ington, Md., and Julie White (Alfred) of Washington, D.C.; two sisters-in-law, Charlene Chew (Lloyd) and Wanda Roy (Sherman) of Spotsylvania; one brother-in-law, Wayne Pendleton (Mary) of Spotsylvania; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 18, at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home. A funeral will be held be at noon Saturday, April 19, at Sylvannah Baptist Church. in Spotsylvania.
