George DeBruhl, 84, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at his home on Smith Mountain Lake. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 67 years and his five children.
George was born March 3, 1930, in Asheville, N.C., the sixth of nine children of Arthur and Janie DeBruhl. He leaves behind his wife, Geraldine Brown DeBruhl; and a legacy of five children, Kaye Daggett (Dave), Nancy Miller (Nelson), Ted DeBruhl (Brenda), David DeBruhl (Cindy) and Jan Phillips (Scott); 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
George began his career as a master electrician, but later was an entrepreneur in the automobile and real estate industries.
He loved spending his time surrounded by his most precious gift, his family, and sharing his love of people and old cars with his wide circle of friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 5, at Franklin Heights Baptist Church, 110 Hilltop Drive, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
