I'd like to thank Donnie Johnston for his article about train travel ["Train travel is chugging into the past, and that's a real shame," March 18].
My dad had a job that required that he travel some of the time. When my dad traveled, guess what? It was only trains that took employees to their destinations. There was no "little bird in the sky" (airplanes).
Dad had to go as far as the West Coast sometimes. He would always come home to Mom and me and tell us about the experience in the "dining car" with delicious food and "excellent service." He never complained about anything.
