Duffy is best choice for City Council spot

Date published: 4/28/2014

As we move toward May 6 and election of new City Council members and the city moves forward with improvements, it is critical that residents in Ward 3 have representatives on the City Council who fully understand our needs and will work cooperatively to meet these standards.

In the several weeks I have known Tim Duffy, I have found him to be congenial, intelligent, fair-minded, energetic, a good listener and full of realistic ideas for the future of the city. He is determined to build consensus on City Council in an effort to create a high quality of life for all.

Tim Duffy is a longtime resident of Fredericksburg who has served as an administrator and an educator for Fredericksburg schools. He was Teacher of the Year multiple times, has been a mentor for city students and has served on the Fredericksburg Parks and Recreation Commission since 2009.

Tim believes that effective representation requires strong leadership. It is necessary to work as a community in an open atmosphere to find good solutions.

He will work in conjunction with the Fredericksburg Planning Commission and with the University of Mary Washington and its Regional Partnership to improve the natural environment, quality of life and economic health of Fredericksburg now and for our collective future.

I'm confident we can trust Tim Duffy to bring a balanced, reasonable approach to city government.
