Robert C. Izzo, 88, of Henrico was born Dec. 7, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and died Saturday, April 26, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan A. Izzo; his devoted children, Robert C. Izzo Jr., Paul G. Izzo and Diana Izzo Wine (Greg); and his sister-in-law, Marilyn A. Poggi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Clara Izzo; and his brothers, Richard Izzo and Wallace Izzo.

Mr. Izzo served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and then graduated from Fordham University. His greatest loves were for his family, faith, fairways and football (Giants and Packers).

Before moving to Richmond in 2012, he lived in Carle Place, N.Y., and then Fredericksburg, where he worked for White Packing Co. for more than 30 years. In retirement, he enjoyed many years golfing at Fredericksburg Country Club, where he had a hole-in-one on Nov. 13, 1993.

The family thanks the staff of St. Mary's Woods and Companion Extraordinaire Nursing Network for their loving and compassionate care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road, Henrico. Interment will be private.
