Shane Suthard

Shane Adam Suthard, 35, of Spotsylvania County passed away peacefully on Sunday, May, 18, 2014.

Shane was a 1997 Spotsylvania High School graduate, and had formerly been a Spotsylvania County deputy for 11 years. He was a member of the search and rescue team for five years and was part of the Project Lifesaver program, which helps individuals with special needs. Shane's passion was helping others and putting a smile on everyone's face. He never met a stranger and was always full of jokes.

Shane was preceded in death by his parents, Lora M. Suthard and Casle M. Suthard.

Survivors include his brothers, Wendell Seay and his wife, Sue, of Stafford County and Don Seay and his wife, Jeanie, of Spotsylvania; two nephews, Sean Seay (Heather) of Locust Grove and Zach Seay of Spotsylvania; two nieces, Kathryn "Nikki" Rackley (Joel) of Charleston, S.C., and Tiffany Dickinson (Garrett) of Spotsylvania; two great-nephews; and three great-nieces. Shane also leaves behind numerous aunts and cousins, and his brothers and sisters of the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office.

Shane's family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, at Salem Fields Community Church, with the Rev. John Swain officiating. Burial will follow in Sumerduck Baptist Church cemetery in Sumerduck.

Pallbearers will be Sean Seay, Zach Seay, Chad Polliard, Warren Bartman, Steve Coleman and Brent Riley. Honorary pallbearers will be the Spotsylvania County Search and Rescue and Spotsylvania Courts divisions.
