Justice doesn't appear to be color-blind

As I read the front-page article about a white man getting no time for a 14-hour armed standoff that resulted in three wounded law enforcement officers ["Shooter stays free with plea decision," May 23], I empathize with the African-American community that suffers from a completely different system of justice.

If the 14-hour standoff had been with an African-American, rest assured that the judge and prosecutor would have ensured that he or she would be getting plenty of hard time.

This judge and prosecutor should be ashamed of themselves and publicly apologize to the African-American community in Spotsylvania County.

I am one seriously embarrassed and angry white Spotsylvania resident.
