Maureen A. Kefauver

Maureen Ann Kefauver, 67, of Fredericksburg passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014, at her residence, Fall Hill.

Maureen viewed life as a mission to be met with a positive and energetic spirit. Were she asked to list her occupation, she could answer "ultimate doer." First, as a mother raising three sons, then as a self-educated and passionate preservationist, she was a construction worker as well as a history researcher. She could choose the perfect paint colors, lay bricks in Flemish bond, find the perfect antique table to complement a room and host a party that made all the pieces greater than the sum of their parts. Her enthusiasm for life inhabited the hearts and minds of her family and her many friends. She was kind, forgiving and loyal; all those she touched are forever marked by her memory.

Survivors include her husband, Barry J. Kefauver; sons Barry Andrew Kefauver (Jenny), John Patrick Kefauver and Thomas Alexander Kefauver; brother Robert V. Kinney Jr. (Gayle); sisters Trudy Lee Dixon (Richard) and Colleen May Coogan (Raymond); two grandchildren, Jacob Paul and Abigail Grace; and her three Musketerriers, Pandora, Lilyputt and Rosy.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

Services will be private.

Memorials may be made to the Fredericksburg SPCA, 10819 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22408.
