Eula M. Teasdale

Eula Moody Teasdale was born Sept. 25, 1917, in Culman County, Ala., and died at her home in Orange County on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at the age of 96.

She was one of eight children born to Charles and Laura Elizabeth Moody. After business college, during World War II, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked as a stenographer for the U.S. Coast Guard at Main Navy. She married Maurice Teasdale on Jan. 9, 1947, and gave birth to two daughters, Elizabeth and Eula Fall. A resident of Alexandria from 1950 to 2012, Mrs. Teasdale was an avid gardener and was very proud to receive the city's beautification award for her yard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice, in 1972, and is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Riddle of West End, N.C., and Eula Fall Cabic of Locust Grove; sister Gracie Moody of Alexandria; her grandchildren, Gary Riddle of Richmond, Heather Taylor of Burke and Edward Cabic of Alexandria; and her great-grandchildren, Grant, Pierce and Hayes Riddle, Ainsley, Ava and Grayson Taylor and Caitlin Cabic.

The family will receive guests from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St., Alexandria, VA 22314. A life celebration service will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday, June 13, followed by interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, Md.
