William T. "Tommy" Gatewood, 83, of Fredericksburg passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, at his residence.
Tommy was a native of Caroline County and the son of the late George and Theresa Gatewood. He retired after 38 years with Safeway, having been a store manager in King George County and in Fredericksburg. After retiring, he worked at Fredericksburg Auto Parts, and was a member of the Historic Fredericksburg Region Antique Automobile Club of America.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Robbie Gatewood; a sister, Frances Hemric; and two brothers, Kenneth Gatewood and Robert Gatewood.
Survivors include his son, William T. "Billy" Gatewood Jr. of Fredericksburg; daughter Marsha Wyne and husband Kurt of Spotsylvania County; two grandchildren, DeAnna Wyne and Christina Wyne, both of Spotsylvania; four sisters, Lucy Mayo and husband Everett of Fredericksburg, Blanche McDonald of Ruther Glen, Marion Paytes and husband C.W. of Spotsylvania and Ann Southworth and husband Billy of Ruther Glen; sister-in-law Hope Gatewood of Ruther Glen; many nieces and nephews; and his caregivers, Jeanette Griczin and Theresa Ponton.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lowe, Bob Marshall, David Burket, Clyde Carnohan, Ben Creasey and Joe Durrette. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Historic Fredericksburg Region Antique Automobile Club of America
